Bio
Greg Bray
Singer • Songwriter • Writer • Encourager • Born Again Hippy • Recovering Tradie
At the age of 10, Greg moved from Innisfail in Far North Queensland, to Gladstone, Central Queensland.
Like his hair, Gladdy Town was a bit wilder back then.
After school he started an apprenticeship as a Fitter and Turner, and continued working as a tradseman, in Gladstone, then Brisbane during the 'Recession We Had to Have', until, one day, he decided it was time for a change.
Since then he's worked in a variety of industries, factories, metal fab shops, hospitals and even went to university (changing lightbulbs, mowing the grounds and maintaining the buildings, which was, technically, an education).
He's also worked as Australia's oldest cadet journalist, and spent several years in Cemeteries. He really does know where the bodies are buried around Gladstone.
Today he's an independent support worker with the NDIS.
For over ten years, Greg wrote a weekly, humorous, column for the now defunct Gladstone Observer. He still writes a regular blog each week, for a much smaller, but more discerning, audience.
He has spent most of his life singing, playing guitar and his musical taste would best be described as, 'Eclectic'.
Good music, is good music, be it rock, jazz, orchestral, swing, punk or folk (and everything in between).
He has written and performed his own songs, although for many years his audience consisted of the loungeroom walls and occasionally, his family, pets, mates and neighbours sitting by the fire.
But now, thanks to the encouragement of his wife, Donella, he's finally been exposed, musically, to the wider world.
Most notably as the bearded, deputy sidekick, in the Aussie Dolly Show.
And this year, with some firm nudging from Donella, Greg has recorded a collection of his own songs.
They're also pretty 'Eclectic', and his sixteen year old self is appalled it's taken him this long to get around to making an album.
Greg, has been a lot of things in his sixty years, but mostly he's proud to be a father and grandfather, sharing wisdom, life lessons, laughs, adventures and music with his littlest fans.
He hopes to keep travelling with Donella, entertaining, writing and making new friends for years to come.
