Folks, in my wardrobe, I keep a little shoebox of keepsakes full of bric-a-brac I’ve collected over the years, which probably has a dollar value of tens of cents, but its’ sentimental value is off the charts.
There’s the badge from Expo 88, a stone plucked from the waters of Loch Ness, a soccer medal won in 1979, my grandfather’s cufflink and a little spray of plastic flowers my granddaughter went out of her way to give me while on holidays in Caloundra years ago.
There’s a shell collected by my daughter, some jewelry, an old calico bag which predates my children and plenty of other odds and ends which meant enough to me that I simply couldn’t throw them away.
Today, I’ll be adding something new to the collection in that shoebox.
This album.
Not because it’s valuable in a monetary sense, but because it captures a season of life I’ll always remember.
The songs, the late nights, the doubts, the excitement, the launch, Doll’s smiling encouragement, the friends who laughed (in the right places too!) when I played the songs to them, then pressed me to record them. Merv and Bob for going above and beyond during the recording process and the dream that finally became something I could hold in my hands.
One day, ‘Future Greg’ will open the shoebox, pick up this album, and smile.
If you’d like a copy of the CD, or a download card, head on over to GregBrayMusic.com for the details.
Finally, ‘Thankyou All!’ for being the wind in the sails of this wonderful journey.
Cheers,
Greg
