Folks, this week has been a bit, hectic, because in a couple of weeks, I’ll be launching (onto an unsuspecting world) my first batch of recordings of songs.
Music and lyrics which I wrote with my own brain!
So, before advertising the album launch in a couple of weeks’ time, there were a few (thousand) things to do.
Chiefly, build a website, decide which format to sell the music (oh, the overthinking going on here will be fodder for next week’s column), researching, more overthinking, phone calls, emails, forms to fill out and, last weekend, we hit the Mt. Larcom Show, twice, then spent most of Sunday back in the country getting footage for some of the songs’ film clips.
Two of the songs are nearly ready to be launched on YouTube, and by the time you read this maybe they’ll be up… (they are! Click here on this link for the first song, and this one for the second! )
I/we, managed to achieve most of this and, well, all the other necessary excruciating minutiae of modern living that chews up my time and energy each day before I flop gratefully into bed; for an afternoon nap. Before getting up and working into the night.
Anyway, on Tuesday night, with matchsticks holding my eyes open and after parting with roughly the same amount of dollars I paid for my first motorcycle in 1983, I logged into Bandzoogle and started building a music website.
By Thursday night I was wishing (not for the first time) I was one of ‘those people’ who simply comes up with great ideas, clicks their fingers and some toiling minion rolls up their sleeves and gets to work making them a reality…
By Friday evening, gibbering slightly, I clicked on the new websites ‘Go!’ button!
Note: there wasn't actually a ‘Go!’ button, but it would have been handy. Because I was halfway through building the thing when I learned it had already gone live (late on Tuesday evening), which sort of ruined having a special ‘Website Launch’ moment when I gathered my dearest around the ol’ PC and clicked the ‘Go!’ button before smashing half a shot glass of something alcoholic over the computer keyboard. Or failing that, consuming said half a shot glass of something alcoholic to celebrate this grand occasion.
I felt a little ripped off to be honest. Still, I consoled myself with half a shot glass of something alcoholic to get over the despair.
So! Without further ado, here’s the link:
Check it out and, for crying out loud, if you spot some glaring error, let me know! Oh, yes, if you like the music, let me know too.
Don’t feel that you have to hold back any praise folks!
Cheers,
Gb
