Album Launched!

Folks, at 2am Saturday morning I woke from restful slumber and slid straight into panic mode.

‘What if?!’ my brain shrieked.

“What if ‘what’?!” I mumbled into my pillow.

‘What if it rains?! What if nobody shows?! What have you forgotten?! Here’s a list! You IDIOT! What’s wrong with you?! How did you forget to do all these things?! Honestly, who do you think you are!’

I replied with my usual thought, ‘So what? Whatever happens, we’ll deal with it and move on. The sun will come up and go down, the tide will come in and go out and life will go on… until it doesn’t. Now, get back to sleep… stupid!’

It’s little wonder my brain and I are barely on talking terms these days.

Well, at 8 a.m. on a sunny, perfect, Queensland winter day, we drove down to the park by the beach, my family cooked some sausages while our grandchildren danced on the grass. Doll emceed and our friend Christina kicked off proceedings with her recently recorded, original, songs.

Afterwards, accompanied by our mate Bob, who magically transformed my songs into music, I took to the stage and peeled out a few songs too.

Happy Days!

We made music in the park. Had a lot of laughs. Caught up with good friends, enjoyed swapping yarns and had more laughs. Watched my grandchildren dance on the grass and afterwards they helped us pack up… the Little Legends!

I can think of worse ways to spend a Saturday morning.

Afterwards, Doll and I wandered up to the surf club and rewarded ourselves with a refreshing drink.

Yes, things went wrong. Let’s just say, it’s hard to have an album launch when the box containing the albums won’t be delivered until next week. Happily, we don’t have to rely on inserting a piece of plastic into an electronic device to make music these days. We can reach into the cloud and pull music from the ether. Until some other way comes along.

What’s next?

Well, marketing, plugging and playing. Generally having more fun!

On the way home I said to Doll, “You know, the next album, let’s do another non-traditional, unconventional, super original, launch.”

“What are you thinking?” she asked.

“Right now, I’m leaning heavily towards a 2 a.m. show in an abandoned barn in Yarwun.” (Mostly to stop my anxiety addled brain from waking me up at that time… that’ll show him)

Doll’s giving it some thought. I’ll let her sleep on it…
